The first thing we were gonna do was to look for the Chapel of the Dead Nun. Local legends say that a dead nun is buried in little hut off of western ave in Morristown but in reality its just a little hut on the side of the road. At first we couldn't find it so we parked in the national guard recruiter. My grandpa went to the bathroom while i took a look around to see if i could find it. all i saw was this huge tower on top of this hill so i went back to the car and told my grandpa lets go over the hill maybe its somewhere around there. So we got back in the car, went over the hill and found ourself's in the middle of an all girls catholic college prep school. the place was beautiful. We took a couple pictures of the big tower and i remember seeing this little hut by the road before we got into the prep school. i then suggested we turn around and go see what it was. sure enough it was the Chapel of the Dead Nun. Too bad it was near a house! But i'm pretty sure its the house for the caretaker of the school, you know like the guy that does all the landscaping and stuff. So we took a couple pictures of the "chapel" and headed on to the next place.
After we went to go get a bite to eat at the nicest McDonalds i have ever seen, we went over to the hospital where my grandpa's friend is staying. it was really sad he was hooked up to a whole bunch of tube and he looked like he was barley hanging on. We stayed there for about a half hour talking. Then we left to go to the next location: Washington's headquarters.
We got really confused on the way there but we eventually made it there. Washington's headquarters were George Washington's Morristown headquarters during the revolutionary war. it is at Ford's Mansion. We got there and went into the museum where it was like 100 degrees. We looked around and such and then went over to see the Mansion. We took some pictures and our luck, the mansion was locked. So we just decided to go onward to the next location.
After that we decided to go to the 300 stone steps in Morris Plain's We drove all the way up this hill and got to the park where the steps are located. Don't let the internet fool you! the internet made it seem like the steps were a hop skip and a jump away from the park but in reality it was really up this steep mountain through this path that my grandpa defiantly could not do. So since it was going on 3:00 already and since we had a 2 hour drive home, we decided to just end it for today and go home.
